How to Get Customers to Your Website

By dawggeek, January 4, 2010 2:09 am

Small businesses looking to add a website for their company need to know what will get potential clients to their website. There are many different factors. But the fastest and most inexpensive way is to keep adding content to the website once it is built. The more relevant up to date content , the better google will like your website. That moves you up in the search results.

This is good news for small business person or even a part time business with a small budget. If you have a little bit of free time to devote to updating your website with good information for potential customers then you don’t need a lot of cash to promote your website.

Some businesses are easier than others to write about. For example if you have a construction company there are plenty of topics to write about. But if you run a printing business it might be harder to come up with compelling content day after day. But with the internet you can find so many sources to read about topics relevant to your business it is possible. Just read a lot and write your opinions on your website from the reading you have done.

Niche Websites

Don’t think you cannot sell products online because of the big boys like Amazon and eBay etc. You may just need to find a niche market. You could even do your advertising offline if you have the right target market. Look at woot.com. They did not try to be Amazon. They did the opposite. They only sell one item a day. They are doing pretty well too.

Website No Nos

I tried to email a photo to a small company that is doing some work for me. But it bounced back. I checked the address and saw the contact info did not match the domain. The site is hosted by windstream and is a cookie cutter website. The problem is no one noticed the contact mistake. That is a big problem. That is maybe the most important section of the site. Get a real human to maintain your website so you get real service.

I would disagree with a couple things on the list like having an account on every single social network site. Pick one and focus on it.

Get More Customers with a Website

By dawggeek, December 17, 2009 9:39 pm

You have ads on radio. You have classified service ads running. You have a direct mail letter you send out regularly. And so on and so on. Why would you not have a website to generate more business?

More people each day use the internet to find service providers for lawn care, maid service, electricians, etc. Less and less use the yellow pages and newspapers. They are still relevant for now but they are fading. I know you can run a yellow page ad on their online directory but how much are you going to spend to get on the top of the page? Because if you are not at the top it is likely your listing will not be seen.

With your own website you can get to the top of natural searches for free. You do need to spend time adding relevant content in a localized manner but it can be done. Whenever I look for a service I need done, I go online. Always. Don’t miss out on the clients like me who search for help online exclusively. As the computer savvy generation get older, they will need help with personal services. They will find that help online. Without a web presence you may miss the boat.

Contact me today if you would like to talk about your small business and how a website can grow it faster.

Need a Website for your Photography Business?

By dawggeek, October 26, 2009 12:39 am

Photography is a great business because it is profitable and fun at the same time. Many businesses are not both. The good thing about photos and the internet is the ease of showing off your work. From Facebook to twitter to blogs there are many ways to show the world what you have captured with your lens. A website is still the home base to showcase your best work. Artistic businesses are easier to promote online than run of the mill businesses. You can create a buzz with much less work than is needed to create interest in say a construction business.

Contact me today if i can help you with your photography business website. I can build it and show you how to update it easily. Click the photo below to see a photography website I created recently. Good luck.

Website Design for Maids

By dawggeek, September 20, 2009 10:36 pm

If your business is house cleaning then a big part of your business is gaining trust with potential clients. After all you are inside their homes around their valuables. People want assurances they are hiring the right person and not a thief. It is hard to gain that trust if the people only see your advertisement somewhere.

Having a website can build a bridge of trust between you and the outside world. Just a simple photo of yourself on the front page of the website gives people a sense of knowing you. A page with past customer reviews is even more powerful. Just ask clients to email you comments on how they have felt about your services and have them mention trust. In addition to this a video comment page is a step up in personalizing feedback. Get current clients who are ok being filmed and shown on your website to allow you to do a quick video with them talking about how they like you and your services. Give them an incentive to take the time to do it by offerring a free cleaning.

Website Design for Lawn Service Businesses

By dawggeek, August 23, 2009 1:41 am

Some people that run simple businesses like lawn care operations think they don’t need a website. The thinking is that since it is a low tech business, a website would not help much. This is not true today and will be even less true every month that goes by. Phone books and newspapers made of real paper are dying out. The internet is where folks find information, including listings for service providers like lawn care.

The longer you wait to get a website the further behind you will be. You need to understand how a website can increase your sales. If you keep putting it off you are just letting your competition gain an advantage over you. A website will pay for itself many times over. It is like a 24/7 online sign.

Contact me today if you want to talk over the benefits of a website for your lawn care business. You will be glad you did so.
